[ READING :: Nehemiah 9 (1-3 // 19-21) ]

I recommend reading all of Nehemiah chapter 9, such a clear depiction of God’s faithfulness and presence even in the desert. Verse 21;

“For forty years you sustained them in the wilderness; they lacked nothing, their clothes did not wear out nor did their fee become swollen.”

And it’s interesting to me that chapter 9 starts off with something similar to an Ash Wednesday or something. I haven’t looked into the ritual going on here in chapter 9 but it seems fitting. Verse 1;

“the Israelites gathered together, fasting and wearing sackcloth and putting dust on their heads.”

More than anything i hope we see this desire God has to be near, to guide us as we wander around the desert, as we fast and pray and seek his face He is near transforming us into his image and likeness, we just need to open our eyes and hearts and be aware!

Meditation ::.

God does not hurry over things; time is his, not mine. And i, little creature, a man, have been called to be transformed into God by sharing his life. And what transforms me is the charity (love) which he pours into my heart. LOVE transforms me slowly into God. But sin is still there, resisting this transformation knowing how to, and actually saying “no” to love. Living in our selfishness means stopping at human limits and preventing our transformation into Diving Love. And until i am transformed, sharing the life of God, through love, i shall be (only) of “this earth” and not of “that heaven.”

And charity, or rather Gods love, is what transforms us.

What’s the use of giving up everything and coming here to the desert and the heat, if only to resist love?
