Karl Barth (talking about “give this day our daily bread”)

“How shameful is our social ingratitude and injustice! How senseless it is that in this humanity surrounded by thy gifts there are people still dying of hunger.”

I always think it’s amazing to find old timers who have said things in their day that could be placed in a pop culture magazine of today and would fit right in / be well received. Social justice and things of that nature are so trendy now-a-days that you really never know when people are doing it because their hearts are really into it or if their doing it just to fit in with the “IN” crowd. I always call these people trendy activists. And I think would rather them be active for the wrong reasons then not active at all, but that's another conversation.

What I do know is that I don’t want to be just another trendy activist. I want to act because I know God’s heart wants to act. I want to go because I know God’s heart wants to go. And I want to give because I know God wants to give. I want my life and my actions to be wrapped up in the activity of God. Call me an activist if you want but i just want to love God and follow Jesus.

“How senseless it is that in this humanity surrounded by [the gifts of God] there are still people dying of hunger.”

 I say, AMEN!
