Findlay & some new seeds & new beans…

Well I have been in Findlay Ohio this week. We have been holding revival services and just having a good time getting into the Scriptures, learning to follow Jesus in new and exciting ways. The messages have been really well received and I have sensed that God is really planting some cool seeds, seeds of true discipleship.  I think your typically revival preacher aims for the big alter call, the BIG moments. I really hope that those happen during revival services but it seems that most of the people I am sharing with are solid Christian folks who have been in the church for a LONG time. So I am thinking that my hope really is that God would stir our hearts and plant some new seeds of discipleship. I pray that we would be stirred to grow spiritually in profound but consistent ways.

To be honest, I am learning! I have done revivals before but I want to keep learning. I want to learn how to effectively hold a “revival” in a new culture, new day, new time. I don’t just want to do it like it’s always been done. I think maybe my biggest challenge is how to creatively call people to response. Thinking a lot about that…

Also I have been experiencing some new beans! Coffee beans that it…

I tag myself with the title of “coffee shop connoisseur.” Well I have been able to experience 2 new coffee shops this week. First there is George’s House.  It’s a cool little place that mixes a little bookstore vibe with a decent coffee shop feel. It’s a little cramped and not the best seating but over all I would give it a B-,  it’s a pretty decent place. The other beans I have tried out have been at Coffee Amiccee, another little coffee shop in Findlay. It’s actually not so little, the ceilings are uber tall and the lighting is horrible! (to be honest ;-) But it’s has a cool area for concerts and the seating is geared toward that. Lots of tables jammed in a not so large area. Pretty horrible coffee shop vibe but a decent small concert venue. Over all I would give this place a C- and tell them to work on there seating and lighting, then they would catapult to a B+ at least.

Anyway that’s my not so expert opinion but it’s always fun to hit a new coffee shop!

I hit the road tonight! North East Indiana here I come!!!

Shalom
