Kingdom Questions…

Questions_1There are always questions when it comes to following Jesus. We are a people who are called to put the resurrected Jesus on display in our world. We are called to establish his kingdom and his power over and above everything else. One of many questions comes into play when we begin to talk about the military, the United States, establishing a kingdom of the United States and in the same breath establishing the kingdom of God. Can one be apart of establishing both kingdoms? Is there a double mindedness if we try? What do say to our bothers and sisters who are in the military and bravely risking their lives? How we the church encourage them to follow Jesus? And how do they the church encourage us to follow Jesus? Lots of question…

I was in Church Sunday night and stepped into a line waiting to participate in the Eucharist. I was very much looking forward to remembering what was done on behalf of the world so I could then go into the world and put him on display, the resurrected Jesus! As I was standing in line to participate in this central act of Christian worship I looked up and standing in front of me was a man in fatigues, full on cammo, he also was waiting in line to participate in this central act of Christian / Kingdom establishing / Jesus worship. I wonder if there was any tension in his head or heart? Does he or any of my other sisters or brother who are in the United States Military feel a kingdom establishing tension?

I wonder…
